BE A CURIOUS LEARNER
In the
fields of neuropsychology, personal development and education, learning is one of the most important mental
functions of humans, animals and artificial cognitive systems. Learning relies on
the acquisition of different types of knowledge supported by perceived
information and it is the goal of teaching and education.
Mezirow (1994) defines
learning “…as the social process of construing and appropriating a new or
revised interpretation of the meaning of one’s experience as a guide to action”
Basically,
some resources are invested in our lives as well as our learning; our money, time and energy.
Books are bought to be read which helps enhances our skills to understanding what is read.
Encouraging Practice
In
order to be skillful, since you are eager to learn, there’s a method. It is
very simple: you must practice. Practicing a lot requires the
sacrificing of your time and leisure, provided you’re also pushing your limits
– will make you better at anything. Don’t be afraid to learn how to do new
things either. By doing so, you’re adding another tool to your skills – skills
that will come in handy later in life. This sets to add value to yourself, your
career and organization in general, and girds you up to put into practice the
skills developed; managing a project, serving on
a cross functional team, taking on a new task, job rotation, job shadowing,
etc.
Critical Thinking
Learning aids individuals in critical thinking. Video
games are being used to engage - usually students, in critical thinking. CEO of Project Tomorrow Julia Evans informs, “Students love to direct their own
decisions and enjoy the ability to change outcomes by playing educational games
in class”. Simulation
games have introduced learning activities such as problem solving and learning
by doing. The emphasis is placed on individual learning, and students are given
feedback quickly. The efficiency of learning is increased through video games.
Also, learning improves
our brainpowers. Eagerness towards learning will aim to develop intellectual
capabilities that allow us to expand our minds instead of directing it. After
receiving this education will feel the power to do anything, power to face any
challenges. Moreover,
individuals who yearn to learn develops their questioning system. They
(learners) need not to agree to take anything at face value; so far as you are
curious to learning, you will question, demand truth and work on solutions to
real life problems.
A Ticket towards Leadership
In addition, this kind of
learning produces visionaries and real leaders who will give shape to their life, to the society, to the
country and to the new generation. Most people who were eager to learn and
learn new things are real leaders of today, CEO’s, thereby, others gets to have their own companies
and employs degree and MBA holders to work for them. For some time they become
part of rated millionaires and billionaires.
Empower You to Meet
Your Role Models And Experts In Your Career Field.
In this case, being eager towards
learning help you to relate with your role models and experts in the field of your course/career in a way that they tend to become
your business friends and due to such relationship, you are able to learn
whatsoever skill they have, asking them questions and through that, might have
the privilege to work hand in hand with them. Being social – talking to just
about anyone – is a way of learning because it improves your communication
skills, extroversion, and builds relationships. Moreover, yet, many people like
being social because it’s fun. Thus,
working with your experts exposes you to the things you hardly know about in
your field of study and that this tends to be an opportunity to learn them to
improve yourself in your career or organization.
Skills, Talents and
Aptitudes
Furthermore, willingness to learn
encourages skills and talents, aptitudes. In many places, these learners use
their talents in inventions and recreations, since they are always curious to
know what's around them and come up with great innovations. Some of which is Thomas Edison: who invented light bulb,
he acquired all these skills unconventionally and now, mankind has adopted the
use of light bulb since its important everywhere.
In today’s global world, you can no longer afford to wait for
someone to push you towards your professional growth without your willingness to learn but anytime the opportunity
to be sponsored arises, do not lose it. You must know yourself and your
career ambitions well enough to recognize the necessary learning investments
you must make and determine your wisest investment path. Most of the time, your
curiosity to learn align with your personal goals, and your specific
performance improvement needs for skills and experience that must be
transferable across all industries and organizations that you may choose to
engage with in the future. Taking an attitude of
willingness-to-learn in your learning/education now will result in payoffs
later. “An investment in knowledge pays the best interest” – Benjamin Franklin.
