WAYS TO IMPROVE YOUR PERSONALITY PROFESSIONALLY

The personality is the typical pattern of thinking, feeling, and behaviours that make a person unique. Everyone wants to be attractive to others. To that end, having a good personality is vital - probably even more so than good looks.Personality improvement is an ongoing process that one needs to achieve, to keep his growth and prosperity intact. Our personality generally is a sum total of our thinking patterns, habits, character genes and environmental effects.

Be supportive of others
Being supportive is probably the most endearing quality you can integrate into your personality. Just as you yourself welcome it, be the support for others when they need it. We all love a cheerleader in our corner; someone who is encouraging, helps with employee’s questions and ethical dilemma at work, believes in us and helps pick us up when we're down.

Have Integrity and treat your employees with respect.
Being honest and true to your word will bring you the admiration, respect and gratitude of others. Nothing improves a person's personality more than integrity and respect; respect for co-workers, as well as respect for yourself.

Develop the Trait of “Persistence”
For Human resource persons who want to be successful, developing the personality trait of “persistence” is an absolute necessity. A simple way to think of “persistence” is the ability to set goals and to achieve them no matter what. Persistence is an almost invisible personality trait. It is more of “inward” than “outward”.

However, to be sure of being successful out of personality improvement, adding persistence to your resource will prove to be very valuable.

Improving The Personality Trait of “Thinking Before You Speak”
In fact, in our dispensation of official work, we must check properly as HR, the manner at which words comes out from us. At times, we speak from annoyance and with that, we are not able to control the kind of words that emanates from our mouth. Here are some important reasons why thinking before you speak is a valuable personality trait:
·        Words have immense power on your co-workers and other employees
·        How you use words in communication defines who you are
·        Words can be used to help your employees, to make others feel better, or to hurt and bring them down
·        Words not only express and reveal personality, but intelligence as well
·        Once you have spoken, it is impossible to take back what you have said

Avoid Discrimination
It is illegal to discriminate based on race, religion, gender, or nationality when hiring or in the workplace. In addition to the reasons listed above, employees and job applicants are not to be discriminated against their disabilities, genetic information, pregnancy, or because of their relationship to another person. Human resources should consider their qualification and experiences and avoid discrimination.

Employment discrimination could occur in any number of situations, including:
§   Stating or suggesting preferred candidates in a job advertisement
§   Excluding potential employees during recruitment
§   Denying certain employees compensation or benefits
§   Paying equally-qualified employees in the same position different salaries
§   Discriminating when assigning disability leave, maternity leave, or retirement options
§   Denying or disrupting the use of company facilities
§   Discriminating when issuing promotions or lay-offs

We human resources have the power and ability to shape our personalities however we wish. When we develop ourselves to be all that we can be, we contribute to our own, as well as the happiness of others. Managing employees ethically bring people’s perception about you to positive, which in a short run improves the organisational reputation.
